ABOUT THE EVENT

The 17th Annual Team Pegasus Century & Training Day is Saturday, May 25TH. As in the past we are offering several different distance options for the bike, and we have a run loop mapped out as well! And the best part is, almost the ENTIRE training day will take place in Myles Standish State Forest.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (still finalizing plans)

The ride will begin just outside Myles Standish State Forest. There will be several routes allowing riders to do a 25-mile, 50-mile, 75-mile or 100-mile route and still be riding with teammates.

The ride is safe but challenging with some roads that are rather hilly, and some sections can be windy. There is relatively little traffic, but most roads have little to no shoulder, so riders should ALWAYS ride single file and well-spaced (i.e., 3 FULL bike lengths apart).

The pavement in the State Forest is new within the last 2-3 years, and we will do our best to clear areas of sand as necessary.

After returning to Morton Park there is the opportunity for athletes to run and/or swim off the bike, and we plan to have our post event gathering at Morton Park.

DETAILS ON THE START TIMES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DAY TO FOLLOW.

The ride starts at 7:00 am, but we reserve the right to change the start time depending on weather. We recommend that you arrive at the start early to take care of business, sign waivers, and listen to ride instructions.

For those who want to do a run off the bike, we have a 6-mile run mapped out that includes mostly paved road, plus a little bit of trail running.

There will be an aid station along the course and our SAG wagon will circle the course periodically to provide aid as needed. The map and cue sheet for the bike course can be found on Ride with GPS and Map My Ride.

We will do our best to mark turns (the route looks more like an “X” than a loop), but we won’t deface the park, so IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all riders download/ print the map and cue sheet in advance to become familiar with the course.

Riders will have access to the aid station every 25 miles, but it’s always a good idea to plan as thought the ride ISN’T supported, and practice eating and drinking on the bike.

The Aid/SAG wagon support does include a first aid kit, bike tools, sports drink, water, goodies and energy gels. Each rider should bring their OWN spare tube and CO2, and should be prepared to fix their own flat.
